If you’re considering having dental implants placed, it’s natural to have many questions for our team; you may be curious about the placement process, the cost of treatment or the overall efficacy of implants. At Champagne Smiles, we believe it is important that you feel educated and informed about your treatment, and have the opportunity to ask any questions regarding your care. We have compiled and answered the most frequently asked dental implant questions below:

How do dental implants work?

A dental implant has three parts: 1) a titanium screw or post that is placed in the jawbone as a sturdy base; 2) a small connector piece, called an abutment, which fits over the top of the implant post; and 3) an artificial tooth that is affixed to the top of the abutment and sits above the gumline.

Can dental implants replace multiple teeth?

Yes, dental implants can replace multiple teeth by supporting a bridge or set of dentures. The implants will not only help keep the bridge or denture prosthesis secure in the mouth, they will also help to maintain the integrity of the jawbone and reduce gum tissue irritation.

Am I a candidate for dental implants?

The Champagne Smiles team evaluates candidates for dental implants on an individual basis. We cannot tell you whether you are a good candidate without examining your mouth and learning more about you and your personal needs.

However, good dental implants candidates are typically individuals who:

  • Are missing one or more permanent teeth
  • Are in good health
  • Do not smoke
  • Have enough strong and healthy jawbone to support an implant post
  • Will be diligent about caring for the implant

Does implant placement hurt?

No, dental implant placement will not hurt. Dental implants are placed into the jawbone during oral surgery, and sedation medications will be administered to keep you completely comfortable during the procedure. If you have any post-operative discomfort, you can take oral pain medication as prescribed.

How much do dental implants cost?

Dental implant treatment varies in cost, depending on the number of implants needed, the type of implant and other factors. We can provide more detailed information about cost during your initial consultation.

Will my insurance cover the cost of dental implants?

It might. Check with your insurance company or read your plan documents to determine whether you are eligible for benefits. If your insurance does not cover dental implant treatment, we offer several financing options, including the Champagne Smiles Dental Plan.

Are dental implants effective?

According to the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, dental implants have an overall success rate of about 95 percent. When properly cared for, a dental implant can last for more than 40 years!

Implants are the most reliable and lifelike tooth replacement option that we offer. The visible part of the implant (the crown) looks remarkably similar to a natural tooth. The crown is stabilized by a strong implant post that, over time, fuses with the jawbone.
