All on Four
If you are missing teeth, you know that it is more than a cosmetic issue. Tooth loss can lead to pain, discomfort and embarrassment in social situations, causing you to not want to smile at all. At Champagne Smiles, we understand the power of a healthy, beautiful smile and we’re committed to helping all patients get the treatment they deserve. That’s why Dr. Champagne offers the innovative All-on-Four treatment, which restores the smiles of those who have experienced tooth loss.
What is All-on-Four?
All-on-Four is an advanced dental procedure that can restore a patient’s entire smile in just one day. The system uses four strategically placed dental implants to support a full-arch denture and reinvigorate a patient’s smile. This minimally invasive procedure is faster, and more affordable than traditional dental implants, which require 6 to 8 implants for full arch replacement. All-on-Four is ideal for anyone who has recently experienced tooth loss, as well as those who are currently wearing dentures.
A Better Alternative to Dentures
All-on-Four is a welcomed alternative to dentures for several reasons. First, All-on-Four provides a permanent and secure fit. This eliminates any movement or discomfort that is typically associated with dentures, which can become ill-fitting over time. In addition, because the teeth are permanently in place and custom-fitted for each patient, patients do not experience difficulty chewing or speaking. With All-on-Four, it’s just like having your natural teeth back.
All-on-Four also has a number of health-related benefits over other restorative dentistry options. For example, patients who use All-on-Four are protected against gum recession, jawbone deterioration and changes to the facial structure such as sunken cheeks.
The All-on-Four Consultation
During a consultation for All-on-Four, Dr. Champagne will evaluate the condition of your gums and will perform X-rays to be sure that there is sufficient bone structure to support the All-on-Four implants. In many cases, the need for a bone graft is significantly reduced with All-on-Four, as the procedure requires fewer implants. He will also make models of your teeth and take bite impressions to be used to craft your custom dentures. Using state-of-the-art CAD/CAM technology, Dr. Champagne is able to “virtually plan” the procedure, and even show you a preview of your new smile.
The All-on-Four Procedure
One of the reasons why All-on-Four is so remarkable, is because of how quick the procedure is. On average, All-on-Four dental implant surgery takes just a few hours per arch. During the procedure, Dr. Champagne implants four titanium screws into the jawbone, placing the posterior implants at an angle for added support. Abutments are then attached to the top of the implants and replacement teeth are secured in place. Dr. Champagne will work with you to ensure a comfortable bite, and make any adjustments as necessary so that you can achieve your best smile.
What Is Recovery Like?
The recovery time for All-on-Four is significantly shorter than other restorative dentistry procedures, including traditional dental implants. Because fewer implants are placed, the entire treatment causes less irritation. While there will be some soreness in the 24 hours following the treatment, many patients return to work and their normal routine the very next day.
Is All-on-Four Painful?
Dr. Champagne understands that many patients become anxious or frightened when visiting the dentist, particularly if they’re undergoing a lengthy procedure. That’s why he offers a range of sedation dentistry options, to help patients feel at ease throughout their entire treatment process. These sedation dentistry techniques include oral sedation, laughing gas and IV sedation. Prior to your procedure, Dr. Champagne will discuss each of these options and help you make the decision that is best for you.
